Cycling in the Rain
I was determined to go around a bit today, maybe go see some towns that are close to Reading. Journey started as I borrowed a bike from my flat mate Mark. It was kind of raining outside, more like fog, small drops, but I didn’t really mind. A quick tour around the University of Reading and their lake, a bit of muddy driving through a small forest and I was covered in mud. Ok, so my final destination should have been some lakes a little further out of town, ok lets find them. Driving on the left makes you confused so I just followed some signs in the direction of Workingham, then suddenly found myself in a resident area. I just thought I’d go right as I thought that was the direction of where I was heading, well it certainly was. That is if your right turn is a turn towards getting lost and getting to a road that goes over the fields and you only pass some sheep on the way. Finally after about an hour on that road I still had no idea where I was, I came back to a car road. Followed some signs and figured out I came to Shinfield. After that I found my way back to Reading. So at home I checked where I had actually been and discovered I made around 15km (9.5mi). Well next time I am definitely looking at the map to plan the route before I get on a bike to a random destination.
