Experimental Typographical Stop Motion Movie

So today was my assessment day which went by great and now it is time for some relaxing, well more like working, but its still going to be a bit quieter than before.

Last project at Experimental Communication was to take a short clip from a movie and make a typographical interpretation of it. Well I think I watched the movie Helvetica a few times too many which led that I took a part from it. It is the part where Massimo Vignelli talks about how type should or shouldn’t be expressive. And that if you write DOG some people think it should bark, or should it?

Well I decided to actually make the type bark and I did a short animation in an improvised studio on my desk.

So next time you think of not making something because you do not have the space or resources, think of you how you can do the thing using the things you have. In my case I borrowed the tripod from Uni, bought an A1 sheet of paper and took my reading desk lamp, simple as that.

Ok here is the finished movie clip of Barking Dog, as well as some shots of each characters that I made as I already had the light and everything set up. If anyone is interested in a background please leave a comment and I can publish them if there will be interest. Ok, enough writing for now.
